Job Description Summary
The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

Due to continued growth of our program, we are searching for a new Research Specialist C, Immunology Core.

As a Research Specialist C working in a highly regulated Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) environment, this individual performs in vitro assays to evaluate humoral and cellular immune responses to adeno-associated virus (AA V) capsid and to transgene product using lymphocytes from several sources under GLP guidelines. The candidate will also analyze the data collected and generate reports for submission to Core management. This individual must exercise a moderate level of independent decision-making, seeking advice on complex decisions from Core management. Project specific task and duties are performed with minimal guidance from supervisor and under established GLP guidelines.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in a GLP environment or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. The candidate shall also have complete familiarity with relevant immunological assays used by the core in pre-clinical testing as well as clinical trials. The candidate must be well versed with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and familiar with the handling of biological materials in a laboratory setting.
