The Event Coordinator at the Innovation Hub will be responsible for working with content area experts to plan, coordinate, and promote innovation-related educational events and activities of all types, from small workshops to university-wide hackathons and design sprints, from community-focused educational outreach events to ACC multi-university competitions.
A primary function of this position will be to work closely with the Innovation Hub Director and Associate Director of Education to provide students with pathways of experiential learning opportunities that teach innovative skills, methods, and applications in a coordinated and accountable manner. The Event Coordinator will also interface with local organizations in the Tallahassee/Leon County Innovation and Entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as event coordinators at other universities in the ACC.
This position offers excellent opportunities for growth and expanding creative management skills in a cutting edge area of higher ed.
This position requires a motivated individual with a keen eye for detail, experience with managing schedules and event logistics, and excellent networking and communication skills. Experience with Innovation and Entrepreneurship environments and practices are not required but are considered advantageous. Working with the Director to develop pathways of experiential learning opportunities for students derived from curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular events.
Guiding students and tracking their progress through those pathways of experiential learning activities.
Coordinating public relations and campus communications to promote these innovation-related events, activities, and programs.
Recruiting and supervising event staff and volunteers, preparing advertising, composing correspondence, and soliciting vendors as needed.Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to carry out project-based work, both independently and collaboratively.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Experience with computer applications and basic computer functions, including Microsoft Office suite.Preferred Event planning experience.
Experience working in higher ed.
Experience in an innovation or entrepreneurship-focused environment.
Experience with social media marketing.
