SummaryThe Medical Office Assistant provides routine patient care to adolescents in a school based health center and adolescent drop in clinic under the supervision of licensed personnel. Responsible for reception, registration, appointments, answering the telephone, chart preparation and filing, ordering supplies, data collection and entry, and room cleanliness.
The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical, clerical and administrative functions. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to, triaging patients, collecting medical information, recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and weight), assisting providers during procedures, performing routine point of care testing (cholesterol and blood glucose testing) , obtaining insurance authorizations for procedures and EKGâÂÂs. Additional responsibilities will include: scheduling patient appointments, faxing/scanning documents, pre-certifying services and procedures, maintaining the stock room and the physical environment of the exam and procedure rooms. The Medical Office Assistant will serve as floater between clerical and clinical staff as needed.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical office assistant training course, military corpsman training program, or nursing assistant course
- Two years of clerical/administrative medical office experience
- Documented validation of technical skills or completion of an organized course for nursing. assistants or a minimum of one-year experience is required of PCAs.
