Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, IACUCTNPRC - Administration

Location: Covington, LA

Summary

The person employed in this highly responsible position will provide technical and professional support to Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) Principal Investigators (PIs) for the development of protocols for submission to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).  The employee will work directly with faculty and staff investigators to ensure that IACUC protocols conform to all University policies, IACUC requirements, and government regulation of the use of vertebrate animals in research.  He/she will provide timely and accurate guidance on the preparation and submission of new or renewal IACUC protocol applications, protocol amendments/revisions, adverse event reports, and related documents.  He/She will provide guidance and assistance investigators on IACUC-requested modifications for protocols and other related IACUC documentation.  The employee will collaborate with IACUC staff on submission, deadlines, and IACUC-requested modifications; work in partnership with Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) staff when a study involves biohazards; and collaborate with Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) staff when a study involves chemical or physical hazards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Two years' experience in the areas of animal care and use, institutional review, research administration, and/or audit, or other areas of research, compliance, and/or oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Direct work experience with an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
  • Demonstrated ability to set and adhere to deadlines to ensure work product is complete and on-time
  • Strong understanding of experimental design and creation of tables
  • Outstanding documentation and record-keeping skills
