The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting and implementing Human Resources strategies, programs, processes and policies among client departments at the Medical Center in Orange, CA. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, labor relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, talent acquisition, compensation, employment law, compliance, benefits and disability. Compensation Range: Commensurate with experience Department Website: https://hr.uci.edu/ Required: Bachelor's Degree in HR, or equivalent education and experience; 5+ years HR experience with a focus in consulting/partnering on a variety of HR issues with managers and employees. Must be highly motivated with a high level of initiative Strong attention to detail Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion with sensitive and confidential information Demonstrated skill in partnering with management and employees in areas of conflict resolution, employee relations, change management, and performance management Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills Proven success in building rapport, working independently and working with diverse employee groups Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast paced, high volume, ever changing environment Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Ability to partner with leaders to help them accomplish business unit objectives balancing both internal practices and policies and the need to think out of the box for creative, relevant HR solutions. Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion with sensitive and confidential information Demonstrated knowledge of HR law Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word Preferred: Current PHR or SPHR CertificationDemonstrated experience with HRIS and other systems, preferably PeopleSoft HCM, TAM and ePerformance Experience in a unionized environment Experience working in a healthcare, UC, union, and/or public sector environment Final candidate subject to background check.
