Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach in the administration and teaching of the women’s Gymnastics program. This includes, but is not limited to, an extensive amount of administrative duties, recruiting, teaching, and advising of student athletes. Receives direct administrative supervision and guidance from the Head Coach Women’s Gymnastics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Coach will help the
head coach manage the duties and expectations of the program
and contribute to a positive leadership transition of the program including:

• Assist in planning, management and oversight of
a safe resocialization period on campus, University life and into
sport activity

• Work with head coach to prepare workouts and
progression for the fall semester in line with the Penn Athletics
COVID-19 regulations and phased timeline.

• Coach and teach gymnastics skills and progressions to student athletes at practice
and competition. Instill proper technique in all conditioning sessions
and practices.

• Prepare discussion points and participate in virtual
team meetings, as well as individual player and class meetings.

•Recruiting; pass recruiting test, build relationships with incoming
freshmen, class of 2021 identified recruits, build recruiting database
for 2022 recruits, remote outreach to other recruits, plan recruiting
calendar and potential travel schedule, evaluate prospects, sort
previous staff evaluations, review video, make calls with club
contacts & individual prospects.

• Work with sports performance
staff to form teambuilder workouts and maintain health. Assist in
team mental performance, nutrition and strength and conditioning
planning.

• Work with equipment staff to plan and organize
equipment orders for season distribution, inventory, etc. • Perform
fiscal office trainings for budget viewing, tracking, etc.

• Assist the head coach in building strong relationships with alumni, fans,
campus partners and the broader community.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience coaching gymnastics, preferably at the collegiate level. Experience competing as an NCAA gymnast will also be considered. Strong spotting experience preferred. The ability to motivate student-athletes, recruits and alumni to support the program enthusiastically. Working knowledge and compliance of NCAA and Ivy League policies and procedures. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with the team or when recruiting as required. Valid driver’s license required.
