To serve as a Laboratory Technologist under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) conducting research on projects that will examine inflammatory diseases as well as cancer. The research is aimed at determining the microbiome and cellular, molecular and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the efficacy of plant products in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancer. Perform laboratory research in several models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, immunotoxicology and -omics in lung injury, tumor rejection, following exposure to environmental pollutants and cannabinoids. Research also involves patients. Routinely advises principal investigators, students, and other laboratory personnel on current methods, ongoing experiments and future research directions. Maintains accurate and detailed records of laboratory experiments and presents these in informal laboratory discussions, group meetings, formal scientific symposia and publications. Assists in training other individuals including students in the laboratory. Orders supplies, maintains lab functioning and cleanliness.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree in Biology or in a related field and 4 years of related experience in a research or basic science laboratory, or associates degree in a related field and 6 years of related experience; or high school diploma and 8 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

M.S. in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or other related discipline with 2 years experience.


Requires knowledge in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or other related discipline. Must have knowledge of hazards of laboratory activities and related safety practices, skills in setting up, care and use of laboratory equipment, and ability to develop and assist with development of new and improved methodology. Includes research on patients. Strong experience in cell and molecular biology, immunology, and experimental models is required. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
