The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 51 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. The Bryant lab is exploring possible new therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer.

Position Description

The primary purpose of the position will be to provide bench support to research projects occurring in the lab. In addition to bench research, lab support and personnel training are also required. Duties will include: performing cellular, molecular, and biochemical assays and techniques to determine the molecular basis of human cancers; assessing novel therapeutic approaches; maintaining detailed records of results; contributing to the preparation of manuscripts/ grants; ordering lab supplies; and supervising and mentoring undergraduate researchers and rotation students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Experience in the culture of mammalian cells and molecular biology approaches such as PCR

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with confocal microscopy
