The Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases conducts NIH and pharmaceutical company funded clinical research on new treatments for infectious diseases and HIV disease and provides HIV treatment and primary care services through collaboration in federally funded Ryan White AIDS CARE Act grants, at UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake, and Roberson counties and NC DOC and the early intervention HIV Clinic in Durham County. The Institute for Global Health & Infectious Disease in the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a permanent full-time Social/Clinical Research Assistant for the Center for AIDS Research of the UNC-CH School of Medicine. She/he will provide support for HIV research by having primary responsibility for recruiting and enrolling patients into research projects, administering informed consent and questionnaires to patients, conducting patient research focus group sessions and coordinating project day-to-day activities. Additional responsibility with data collection and management, medical chart abstraction and data entry into a computerized data entry instrument is required.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
-Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
-Computer experience and skills with email, MS Excel, and data entry required.
-Ability to observe, collect, and record a variety of data/information, within well-defined research parameters.
-Ability to use established data/information systems, functions, and/or procedures to collect and store data/information.
-Ideal candidates will have some experience in research projects coordination, and direct patient contact, some background in medical research and terminology.
-A Master’s degree in the health-related areas is preferred.
