Job Summary

UK HealthCare is transforming the peer review process. The Enterprise Clinical Peer Review Specialist will report to the Medical Staff Affairs Associate Director and collaborate with the Chief of Medical Staff together with medical staff and hospital leaders. This position will also work with other healthcare professionals in implementing peer review initiatives designed to develop goals and objectives to improve quality of care and meet state, federal, Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies’ requirements.

This position will play an essential role in successful implementation of the peer review process. The ideal applicant will have significant experience with medical records review, data extrapolation and report building. Direct collaboration with clinical and administrative stakeholders will be critical to provide, define and prioritize needs in accordance with UK HealthCare goals and objectives. This role is in a meticulous, fast-paced and continuously evolving work environment. The ability to be objective, multi-task, be proactive, prioritize, and consistently follow standard operating processes is crucial.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, have a strong clinical background with more than one year of recent clinical experience, possess effective interpersonal skills, have ability to work at least 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday) and be available to work extended hours as situations arise.

Research

In fiscal year 2016, the University of Kentucky was awarded $316.5 million in external grants and contracts. UK is one of only eight universities across the country with the full range of undergraduate, graduate, professional and medical programs on one contiguous campus, leading to groundbreaking discoveries and unique cross-disciplinary research and scholarship.
