POSITION TITLE: America Reads (Tutor)

DEPARTMENT: Financial Aid Office

REPORTS TO: Candice Todd Financial Aid Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The America Reads program is offered to FWS eligible students who are interested in tutoring elementary school children in Reading. The America Reads program was initiated by President Clinton to ensure that all children can read by the end of grade three. Students are tutored at a designated site off campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Tutor kindergarten to elementary aged students in Reading
2.Travel to local elementary schools and/or local libraries
3.Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Must be eligible for federal work-study
2.2.5 GPA, not on academic probation, and in good standing at JJC
3. Enrolled in 6 credit hours at JJC
4.Enjoys working with children
5.Reliable transportation/possess valid driver’s license
6.Must attend a training session

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bilingual, English/Spanish is a plus

They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.

This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
