Student Accounts Specialist

The Office of Student Accounts at Coastal Carolina University is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Student Accounts Specialist (Fiscal Technician II). Individual must enjoy customer service in a highly paced environment and the opportunity to assist the department with providing service to students, parents and other departments on campus.

Duties include, but are not limited to: responsible for analysis of student financial accounts; interprets the impact of transactions created by the Office of Student Accounts’ billing, refunds by University Housing, Financial Aid, Registrar and other campus offices; guides students and their parents through the University requirements; gathers customer requests that are received by phone, email, fax and walk-in, prioritizes the request and communicates with credibility and confidence; performs receipting functions as well as billing analysis on a daily basis; and provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large;

Qualifications: A High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required. Associates or Bachelors degree; twelve (12) credit hours in an accounting/business related area; experience in a fast-paced customer service industry; and Datatel experience are preferred. A successful candidate must be familiar with financial aid sources and regulations, university housing and student activities; and possess computer skills including Microsoft office.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors degree and twelve credit hours in accounting/business related area. Experience in a fast paced Customer Service industry and/or Datatel experience preferred.

Required Licensure and/or CertificationKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

Basic familiarity with financial aid sources and regulations, university housing and student activities. Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word and Excel; proficiency with email and telephone correspondence with customers.
