General Summary

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is one of 13 departments within the Division of Student Affairs. It provides the campus community and guests with high-quality, efficient, and innovative event services and dining options in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.

This position is an integral part of our dining operations staff. Led by experienced culinary professionals, we offer staff the opportunity to work in newly-renovated facilities and are committed to using quality ingredients and processes. This position plays an integral role in accomplishing this goal by training and coordinating the work of Snack Bar Attendants and assisting with all aspects of food production and service in our retail venues. Persons in this position have a hand in food production, sanitation, customer service, and cash handling in the Airport Lounge, Business Bistro, Starbucks, Qdoba, McAlister's Deli, The Landing, Timbers, Star Ginger, and the U High School Store.

Additional Information

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Promotes quality customer service. Continually interacts with customers in dining area to evaluate satisfaction levels.
- Oversees and ensures food preparation and sanitary standards are maintained in food preparation and in the food prep, services areas, and Front of House areas. Assists with food preparation as staffing and business dictates.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates employees on assigned shift.
- Establishes and maintains simple account records, manages cash handling processes, and completes daily cash deposits.

Required Qualifications

1. One (1) year (12 months) of experience in fast-food procedures (such as gained as a Food Court/Snack Bar Attendant) such as preparing and serving beverages and fast-food items and performing other miscellaneous duties in a snack bar/sundry operation.

2. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Desired Qualifications

1. Ability to supervise student workers.
2. Ability to maintain simple account records and forms.
3. Able to make accurate and rapid calculations in the transfer of products and in the use of cash registers.
4. Possess Serv-Safe Sanitation Certification or must obtain within 6 months of employment.

Work Hours

Shift and days off to be determined by department

Mandatory Physical Requirement

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

Ability to lift 55 pounds.
Ability to push/pull 30 pounds.
Ability to climb, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach overhead.
Ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period.
Ability to see and speak clearly.
