General Summary

The Financial Systems Analyst works with university business partners and technology staff in the Office of Technology Solutions to stay actively engaged and informed of the various financial systems and processes that support the university's business operations. The Analyst maintains an inventory of existing fiscal related systems, in addition to conducting audits on usage, performance, and processes. The Analyst will routinely review existing documentation as well as conduct meetings and training with various campus users as requested.

In addition, this position plays a central role in understanding and translating the functional needs for financial systems along with the technical needs and limitations of existing and future systems. The incumbent will assist in the development of the roadmap for financial systems revolving around tax, audit, compliance, payroll, general ledger, procurement, and reporting. This work will include system analysis and continual process improvement. Exceptional documentation and communication skills are critical to the success of this position.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's or equivalent degree in accounting, business, or related field from an accredited institution
  2. Three (3) years of experience overseeing financial disciplines including accounting and reporting
  3. Three (3) years of experience with complex, large-scale, integrated financial systems with strong emphasis on multiple accounting and finance modules, including General Ledger, Payroll, Human Resources, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, Federal and State Tax, Compliance, and Financial Reporting
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze large amounts of detailed information, quickly understand complex issues, and break down information into smaller, more manageable pieces
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to conduct internal and external meetings, and comfort interacting with diverse groups from end users to executives
  6. Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts verbally and in writing to management, technical staff, and customers in terms appropriate for each audience
  7. Ability to facilitate meetings in an open and engaging manner to meet participants at their level of understanding and document notes
  8. Ability to identify issues and risks to a project early and escalate to management
  9. Able to drive discussions to a decision
  10. Excellent documentation skills
  11. Strong customer service skills, along with a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality, and reliability.
  12. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks to ensure on-time work completion
  13. Ability to build collaborative relationships with a variety of academic and administrative employees
  14. Ability to work independently and in a team environment with good communication and collaboration skills
  15. Ability to work with considerable latitude and independence of action
  16. Strong organizational skills
  17. Demonstrated excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to assess situations, troubleshoot, and make recommendations from both strategic and tactical perspectives
Desired Qualifications
  1. Three (3) years of experience with higher education administrative systems (PeopleSoft, Ellucian Banner, Ellucian Colleague, Oracle, Hyperion, Touch net, SAP, Workday)
  2. Master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
  3. Lean or Six Sigma certified
  4. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Work Hours

Core business hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday; weekend or after-hours work may be required to support change management or disaster recovery
