The candidate will participate in lab preparation and maintenance activities under the direction of the Instructional Resource Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity to gain laboratory experience in biology, microbiology, entomology, chemical preparation and aseptic techniques. These skills will help the student be successful in future laboratory settings and Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology classes. Candidate will also provide assistance with duties pertaining to office procedures and other duties as assigned.Major Duties
These activities will include washing lab supplies, preparing media, filing, and organizing and transporting laboratory supplies. Candidate will also provide assistance with duties pertaining to office procedures and other duties as assigned.Knowledge Required by the Position
The successful candidate will possess basic math and laboratory skills in order to use equipment and follow directions for mixing microbiological media.Supervisory Controls
Biology Chairperson supervises and reviews work through observation for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.Guidelines
Guidelines include Math/Science, BOR and EGSC policies and procedures. Student must maintain confidentiality agreement; provide adequate and accurate information or assistance.Complexity/Scope of Work
The work consists of Lifting, standing, carrying, and reaching related to the preparation and organization of lab supplies. The purpose of this position is to provide support for the college’s Math and Science Department. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of office operations.Contacts

The work is typically performed while standing at a laboratory bench or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
The work is typically performed in a science lab.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in 6 credit hours with East Georgia State College and be in good academic standing.
