The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for the effective
administrative and financial support of the other divisions. This position has
the authority and the responsibility for implementing budgetary long-range
strategic plan objectives, and for providing leadership and direction to employees and
senior leadership. This position exercises substantial independent decision making with regard to management and allocation of resources. The Director of Finance and
Administration provides principal leadership in identifying financial strategies and an
efficient administrative structure to enable us to utilize resources wisely.

Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Experience/Education

Related Master’s degree and a minimum of three years professional-level
experience in managing the budget of a large organization and/or providing
business case guidance to senior leadership in a non-profit, higher education, or
highly regulated setting, including at least one year directing an organization-wide
budget; or a Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, management, or
related fields and five to seven years of related professional-level experience.
*Prior project leadership and supervisory experience;
Accounting /auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical
accounting/financial statements and reports;
*Demonstrated experience in Financial and Human Resources systems (e.g.
PeopleSoft, PeopleAdmin, etc.), and State Procurement Systems;
Ability to interpret and apply complete Federal and State fiscal regulations to
analyze and correct accounting and financial problems and errors;
*Ability to recommend changes in the accounting system and procedures.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with business and program
personnel;
*Ability to plan and supervise the work of other accounting and facility personnel;
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices including knowledge
of budgetary planning, developing and control;
*Understanding of audit requirements and a thorough knowledge of government
accounting methods and procedures and financial practices;
Thorough knowledge of the State’s biennium budget, repair and renovation and
capital budget process;
*Knowledge of fiscal year closeout process and procedures;
Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and problem
solving skills;
*Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook);
Ability to manage, direct and organize agency operations and program
management from a financial standpoint;
*Ability to move the agency forward in accordance with the organization’s strategic
plans.
