Educational and Experience Requirement
Associates Degree in related field. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs complex administrative associate duties for Smith-Hutson Scholars, Sam Houston ELITE, and other future student-centered support and enrichment programs.

Primary Responsibilities
Performs complex administrative duties, including appointment scheduling and recording of minutes of departmental meetings. Assists in preparation of operational policies, personnel processing, event planning and support, purchasing, and departmental budgets. Assists program managers in creating, planning, and executing new outreach events to attract quality applicants. Organizes and prioritizes tasks pertaining to recruitment of and applications from potential student participants. Interprets policies and explains procedures relating to activities performed in the Office of the Provost. Prepares reports and maintains adequate records in order to monitor academic progress of student participants. Creates, revises, and distributes routine and special documents and correspondence to departments both internal and external to the SHSU campus. Provides limited assistance to student participants when completing university forms and following university procedures (such as financial aid, fee statements, obtaining unofficial transcripts, etc.) Serves as both an internal and external resource when communicating the benefits and value of office programs. Plans, schedules, and supervises work of student employees. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature.
