Educational and Experience Requirement
High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. One year relevant clerical experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced clerical duties for the Department of Counselor Education and the College of Education at the Huntsville main campus.

Primary Responsibilities
Performs advanced clerical functions for Sam Houston State University Jack Staggs Counseling Center. Performs data and document processing and provides general customer service. Types letters, memorandums, reports and other materials. Performs data entry, verifies data and files. Maintains files. Performs receptionist duties, directs phones and walk-in customers, schedules appointments. Will send requests for access to clinics to Department chair for approval. Receives clients in clinic and escorts them to the appropriate area of the clinic for counseling. Assists the CACREP Coordinator with reporting and documentation. Provides support to graduate student counselors, faculty and other office staff. Solves routine problems to complete tasks of a repetitive nature. Receives and distributes mail. Maintains documents and files of a confidential nature for clinic operations. Work schedule will be 8-5 except when clinic is open until 8:00 pm. Work hours will be adjusted on those days to 8 hours a day. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications
Understands and applies rules for confidentiality required by Chapter 611, Texas Health and Safety Code and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Performs additional clerical duties in the office as time permits. Requires accuracy in finding files, entering facts or figures, and operation of office equipment.
