Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from four-year College or University. Six years of professional governmental or commercial accounting experience. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs all Level II duties/responsibilities and plans and directs accounting activities within central administration departments. Functions as a Subject Matter Expert for a specific accounting function, examples include Fixed Assets, Taxation, Foundation Accounting, Investments, etc. May work closely with Management and Executive Management to align accounting goals with the University strategic mission.

Primary Responsibilities

Incumbents may perform all or some of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbent’s performance objectives as outlined by the incumbent’s immediate supervisor or manager. Performs Accountant II duties. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll. Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports. Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, capital acquisitions, and operating expenses. Reviews financial statements with management personnel. Issues written and oral instructions, assigns duties, and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective actions and procedures. Participates actively in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, Operating Budget, and Legislative Appropriation Request. Assists with various special projects as needed. Complies with all applicable Federal, State and University policies, rules, and laws. Performs other duties as assigned.
