The College of Design at Georgia Institute of Technology invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the School of Industrial Design in Atlanta, Georgia.

The School offers a B.S. in Industrial Design and a Master of Industrial Design, as well as an Industrial Design minor open to all students from all six colleges at Georgia Tech. The School also participates in an exciting interdisciplinary Master of Science program in Human-Computer Interaction. The School strives to be the premier School of Industrial Design in the country. The program has benefited from strong collaborations with the Schools of Mechanical Engineering and Interactive Computing. Due to its strong focus on technology, the School has experienced rapid growth over the past decade. The School currently enrolls over 260 undergraduate students, 50 graduate students, and has over 250 students enrolled in the Industrial Design Minor.

The Chair will have the opportunity to build on the success of the past decades to create a School of Industrial Design that capitalizes on the opportunities of the 21st Century. The new Chair will be expected to provide overall leadership and vision for the development of a comprehensive program of teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Chair manages academic, fiscal, and personnel matters and links the School of Industrial Design to the strategic objectives of the College and Institute.

Candidates must have a terminal degree in Industrial Design or closely related field with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement that qualifies for a tenured position. The candidate must maintain an active commitment to the profession and to the promotion of excellence in teaching and research, and must have the ability to engage with community and corporate leaders and work effectively with faculty, students, and administrators. Significant experience in academic or research administration is desirable. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment is anticipated on or about July 1, 2021.
