Job Summary:
The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking full time Senior Professional Research Assistant (SPRA). The SPRA will ideally be an Audiologist and should be proficient in project and data management and understand University Policies and Procedures in order to adhere to compliance of protection of source data. The individual should have experience in working with people aged infants to older adults, in designing and executing auditory perception research studies including hearing aid probe microphone measures and programming, cochlear implant mapping, basic auditory measures, psychoacoustic experiments, and objective assays of auditory function. Experience recording myogenic potentials will be a bonus. The position will assist in the development of research protocols following generally accepted research practices in experimental design to assure high quality of data as well as evaluate data quality and generate appropriate summaries and graphic representations based on unique characteristics of data and study. The SPRA may generate and monitor COMIRB-related materials for relevant research studies and will take responsibility for smooth operation of the laboratory. This role is active in disseminating data via construction of presentations and writing manuscripts and generates statistical analyses while working with study statistician. The position will oversee calibration including determination of calibration needs and timetables and will complete hands-on calibration in laboratories where calibration is necessary. This position will initially be funded by a three year Department of Defense funded contract investigating hearing protection.  Examples of Work Performed: 
  • Oversight and execution of laboratory functions including calibration, supplies, lab-schedule, and meetings
  • Experimentation with human subjects, primarily healthy young adults.
  • Direct management of COMIRB regulatory documentation for  COMIRB-approved studies
  • Study design and protocol with the lab PI
  • Ensuring all studies and patient care is compliant with University and Hospital policies and regulations
  • Recruitment of human subjects for studies
  • Database and data management and analysis
  • Presentation of data at national and regional scientific conferences
  • Assisting with writing peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Oversight of lab and grant budgets
  • Coordination of cross-studies for lab space and subject recruitment
  • Salary and Benefits:
    The hiring salary is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.  This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.  The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package.     QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: 
    • Master’s degree in Audiology or a directly-related field 

    Applicants mustmeet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.


    Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Board certified Audiologist 
    • 2 or more years working within a research laboratory
