UNT Frisco Student Services endeavors to assist all students who attend the Frisco campus with programs, services, and activities that complement their education, and make their student experience excellent.

Position Overview

The university seeks to develop a state-of-the-art internship program on the Frisco campus so that an increasing number of students will have opportunities for quality experiential education. The Director, Frisco Internship Program will lead this initiative and collaborate with faculty and staff at UNT-Frisco to create and sustain a quality internship program.

The position will provide leadership and management of the internship programs, including the Cohort program, for students at the Frisco campus. Under the direction of the AVP, Student Services for Regional Campuses, the position will provide staff supervision, strategic planning & goal setting, developing and following policies and procedures, and developing programming for internships at the Frisco campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education administration, or related field; and 5-8 years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•In-depth knowledge of Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs & Enrollment needed for the day-to-day operations of this position.
•Must be able to work flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend coverage of services and events.
•Position may be required to serve students at various campus locations.
•Excellent communication skills appropriate for a variety of audiences and outlets.
•Must be comfortable with flexible, nimble approaches to starting a new campus enterprise, keeping eye on the big picture with a positive attitude.

•Provide vision and direction through effective academic and employer partnerships for the Frisco internship program.

o

•Promote experiential education to students, faculty and employers and administer an Internship Prep for students.

o

•Establish and maintain a working relationship with academic advisors and faculty at Frisco

o

•Work with administrators and faculty to evaluate degree plans and audits according to College and University policies and procedures.

o

•Update student degree plan, calculate GPA and remaining course requirements in a timely fashion.

o

•Coach students about internship opportunities and preparation for an internship search.

o

•Facilitate faculty academic approval process for internships while supporting faculty representatives.

o

•Consult and meet with employers as they develop and implement an internship program.

o

•Participate in monthly Frisco Circle meetings to update and inform Frisco administrators on the internship program.

o

•Provide classroom and organization presentations as well as within Frisco/Plano community.

o

•Collaborate with Career Center staff on departmental programs and initiatives, providing support in areas including in appointments, delivering workshops and academic college liaison role.

•Plan and organize Internship Fair held each semester

o

•Develop and distribute monthly and annual reports on the internship programs at Frisco, adding the data to the overall university report, as well as, the Frisco report.

o

•Supervise other internship staff (full-time, part-time, student) as they become available to the program.
