Description:
A Post-doctoral Associate position is available in the Department of Chemistry to work in a project on the Catalytic Synthesis of Cyclic Polymers led by Prof. Adam S. Veige in Chemistry.
We have a position available in our group to work with industrial partners on the application of our novel catalysts for the synthesis of commercially relevant cyclic polymers. We are looking for candidates familiar with organometallic/inorganic synthesis or experience with polymer synthesis and characterization.
The Veige group particularly welcomes applicants who can contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment through their scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and professional service. Please see https://diversity.clas.ufl.edu/diversity-statement/ for more information about diversity and inclusion in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The university and greater Gainesville communities enjoy a diversity of cultural events, restaurants, year-round outdoor recreational activities, and social opportunities.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates familiar with organometallic/inorganic synthesis and catalysis, and knowledge of polymer chemistry including polymer characterization methods and large-scale synthesis. Experience in one of the areas of polymer physics, rheology, light scattering, or polymer processing is desirable but not required. The candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with and grow collaborations with industrial partners.
Must have PhD in Chemistry. This position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance and conduct and availability of funds, may be renewed for up to one year.
Application Instructions:
For full consideration, applications must be submitted online at http://apply.interfolio.com/78553 and must include: (1) a short (limited to one page) statement of scientific interests, (2) CV, and (3) three confidential letters of recommendation sent on their behalf to their Interfolio submission packet.
Evaluation of the applications will start September 17, 2020 and will remain open until filled. The position can start as soon as October 31, 2020. For additional information you may address your specific questions to Adam S. Veige (veige@chem.ufl.edu)
All candidates for employment are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks, and verification of education.
The selected candidate will be required to provide an official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Degrees earned from an educational institution outside of the United States require evaluation by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/.
