Description:

Applications for the Thor Eaton Professorship in Fibrosis Research at St. Michael’s Hospital- Unity Health Toronto are being sought. This is a five-year, renewable once, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital Professorship. The tentative start date of this appointment is November 1, 2020, or a subsequent mutually agreeable date.

The successful candidate will have international-level recognition as a clinician-scientist or scientist with a research program focused on specific issues related to the pathophysiology of fibrosis. Applicants must already hold an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate must not currently hold a professorship or major salary award, upon taking on the Professorship.

Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital Policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer-reviewed publications program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows) and the impact of their contributions to the field.

The Professorship will support the academic activities of the successful applicant, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational activities.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae (Web CV or Common CV), a 2-page outline of their academic program (including research productivity, training activities and academic prominence), the name of three refrees and a 1 to 2-page proposal of how the professorship resources would be used in the initial 5-year term.
