Your opportunity:

Working under the direction of the Director, Facilities Management and closely with assigned clients, you will be the primary point person for assigned projects and be responsible for implementing all aspects and phases of construction projects from conception to completion with the goal of keeping projects on time and within budget. The Project Manager will review design drawings prepared by professional engineers and licensed architects and must understand the legislative and ethical requirements that govern these professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning components of projects
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines
  • Reviewing technical design documents prior to revision
  • Preparing detailed analysis on all aspects and phases of construction projects from conception to completion
  • Analyzing tender submissions
  • Costing shop level projects
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years' of related work experience in a construction industry overseeing a range of projects ranging in size and complexity, including some relatedexperience in design and construction.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing construction projects, budget management and timelines.
  • Computer based project scheduling/management experience (e.g., MS Project) is required.
  • Working knowledge of CAD.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to respond to frequently changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects within strict budgets and timeline constraints.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset.
  • Experience in project management for higher education.
