Provides small business management advising related the the COVID-19 pandemic. Technical advising consists of a variety of financial, operational and management topics related to small businesses and their recovery efforts. Works with economic development stakeholders to foster referrals.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

Provides timely and sound advice to small businesses related to the COVID-19 recovery. Works with new and existing small business owners in such areas as business startup, business plans and loan proposals, financing, cash flow management, financial analysis, marketing, market analysis, bookkeeping, operations audits, human resources, and government contracting. Works with area economic development organizations and other SBDC stakeholders to provide SBDC with small business client referrals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of small business management
Knowledge of commercial lending
Knowledge of small business accounting and bookkeeping
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively advise and coach small business owners
Ability to travel

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, communication or other directly related field.

Three years of experience in any combination of the following: commercial lending, small business ownership, autonomous general manager in a small business, or consultant to small business; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
