General Summary

The Coordinator of Clinical Placements is responsible for managing and securing the School of Nursing's clinical placements for the Master's Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP) program. The Coordinator will build relationships with placement sites to secure spots for students. This role will advise students on which placement sites would be a good fit and manage their expectations of the process. This position manages all legal agreements between placement sites and DePaul. In addition, the Coordinator guides all faculty, staff, and students to ensure they meet all compliance requirements as requested by sites or needed for clinical placements including but not limited to: waivers, immunizations, background checks, and drug screens.

Responsibilities & Duties

Responsible for maintaining and securing clinical placements for the School of Nursing:

  • Maintain current clinical sites as well as seeking to secure new and appropriate clinical agencies, institutions, etc. for student experiences.
  • Establish and enhance communication between the School of Nursing and institutional educational/clincal coordinators.
  • Work with Director and Program Directors to be current and up to date on the School's clinical placement needs for each program.
  • Conduct site visit of clinical agencies quarterly.

Determining appropriate clinical placements for specific courses in collaboration with the Director and Associate Director:
  • Collaborate with course coordinators to determine appropriate clinical placements for specific courses prior to finalizing clinical rotations.
  • Communicate with clinical faculty every 2 weeks (or as necessary) during the 10-week quarter to clarify any issues with students, course faculty and site.
  • Ensure courses which require clinical placements are staffed and have sites identified for placements before the start of each quarter

Serve as the Compliance Officer for the School of Nursing:
  • Examine student compliance reports for deficiencies and notify course coordinators as appropriate.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enforcing compliance with site specific requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring and enforcing compliance with all immunizations, certifications, etc. for clinical faculty, students, and staff as required.
  • Work with the department coordinator to ensure compliance with all University requirements surrounding clinical placements, such as agreements, tracking, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
  • 2+ years experience working as a registered nurse.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience with clinical placements.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical placements, along with the ability to seek out new relationships for sites.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse
    • Active and unencumbered license in the State of Illinois.

Other Skills & Abilities Reqd

  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to keep accurate and well organized records.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to attend site visits at clinical sites, which will include prolonged standing and walking.

Additional Information

  • Will require work outside of normal office hours for site visits, which will include local travel using personal vehicle.
    • This may include weekends and evenings.
