The Fanselow Lab studies the nature and function of fear. The lab conducts various experiments with rodents that include brain surgery, behavioral training, brain perfusion and immunohistochemistry. The employee is expected to closely attend to lab logistics and facilitate staff research activities. Responsibilities will include: tracking inventory and placing orders for supplies and animals; scheduling events and meetings for the PI; maintaining and updating lab websites, providing entering lab members with instructions for completing required training and adding them to protocols; attending lab meetings; scheduling lab meetings; assisting lab members in maintaining a clean and organized working environment by delegating cleaning and maintenance tasks and ensuring they are completed; scheduling repairs of lab equipment, maintaining laboratory inspection readiness, ensuring compliance with various committee requirements in order to pass rigorous lab inspections, attending vendor showcases, being the lab's point of contact for various agencies, vendors, etc. Responsible for completing grant submissions, preparing research papers, writing animal (ARC) and IBC protocols. The employee will also be required to monitor and maintain rat and mouse breeding colonies. Employee may be required to wean, handle and house animals. Note that this is a lab manager position, not a researcher position.
