Job Description Summary
The primary function of this position is to perform clinical laboratory testing on companion animals using both automated and manual techniques in all sections of the lab; this includes hematology, chemistry, coagulation, cytology, blood banking, immunology.

Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of Clinical Laboratory daily work, including specimen preparation, testing (hematology including blood smear evaluation, clinical chemistry, coagulation, blood bank, urinalysis, immunology, cytology), test reporting, validation of test results, instrument/test quality control and maintenance, accessioning of specimens, customer service, test send outs, and laboratory billing. Rotating weekend duty during and after training period.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree or two year college equivalent and 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous experience in clinical laboratory techniques is required. Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel. Good communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in collaborative situations. Preferred experience includes previous experience and demonstrated skill in blood smear evaluation and urinalysis/urine sediment examination as well as experience with quality control testing and evaluation. For continuation of employment, the following is required following training period and probationary period: demonstrated proficiency in blood smear evaluation, urinalysis sediment evaluation, operation of laboratory instrumentation, and quality control completion and evaluation.

Full-time, 40 hours/week. Varying weekly schedule, with rotating weekend work
