Position Description:
UCLA Strategic Communications increases awareness, understanding and support of UCLA's vision, mission, and accomplishments among its many constituencies. A major focus of this department is the formulation and implementation of strategic communications initiatives, plans and events.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the Director, Strategic Insights directs data tracking and analytics insights to support executive decision-making regarding marketing and media relations programs, growth and future planning. The incumbent manages a staff a staff with expertise in data science, database management, analytics and reporting, responsible for establishing performance metrics, tracking, monitoring and reporting; responsible for developing and implementing strategies around data tracking, reporting as well as quantitative and qualitative research; participates in strategy discussions by contributing relevant insights on performance and from research studies; identifies opportunities and makes research or recommendations, based on various needs across the organization (copy, creative testing, messaging strategy, media consumption trends, generational/ lifestyle marketing insights, internal comms, event planning, post-event etc); ensures team activities (data mining, research projects (primary or secondary), data analysis, reporting, etc.) are relevant, prioritized and investments are smart and relevant; ensures research opportunities and efforts are maximized but focused (for ex., defining and adding quick pulse check questions to smaller internal surveys); leverages secondary research and primary research conducted by various groups on campus that enhance StratComm knowledge base (SAIRO, HERI, UCLA Health, etc); considers and implements contextual data analysis, including key activities, events and the ops calendar in all analyses. Duties are performed onsite during normal office working hours and the incumbent maintains consistent and punctual attendance. Working hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays and may require light travel.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
