Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or other relevant discipline with 3 years of experience.
Purpose of Job:Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, the Analyst/Programmer constructs complex queries that are used to create reports, predictive models, and data visualizations
Scope of Responsibilities:Responsibilities include creating and maintaining Banner reports, designing dashboards and providing support to end users in the use of various reporting tools such as Argos and Tableau.
Essential Job Functions :•Develop user-friendly data dashboards and data analysis reports
•Develop institutional level surveys in partnership with various offices to support college-wide strategic planning and institutional effectiveness.
•Experience with relational databases such as Access, Oracle or other relevant databases.
•Experience using querying tools and multi-dimensional concepts.
•Manage and organize institutional data required to support academic initiatives
•Assist in the preparation and presentation of institutional/external trainings and workshops.
•Assist with the creation of reports or data from the Banner database for internal, state, federal and accreditation needs (i.e. Mississippi Institution of Higher Learning, IPEDS, US News ect).
•Assist in maintaining the Institutional Research and Assessment webpage
•Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or other relevant discipline with 3 years of experience. Master’s degree in data analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or similar preferred
•A minimum of 2 years of working experience using SQL programming
•A minimum of 3 years working experience in data analysis programming, or a combination of work-related experience.
•Proficiency with merging large and complex data sets using software such as SPSS
•Proficiency in survey administration platforms such as Qualtrics and course evaluation software such as SmartEvals.
•Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) is preferred
•Advanced Microsoft Excel experience (i.e. pivot tables, cross tab queries, interactive charts)
•Strong analytics skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
•Ability to work well individually as well as part of a team and ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
•Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously through completion
•Commitment to confidentiality and ethical data practices.
