Research Assistant, Department of Biology - Georgetown College

The Department of Biology, in Georgetown College, at Georgetown University, laboratory design promotes meaningful and productive interactions, while numerous study spaces support innovative and collaborative education. This, combined with their strong ties to the research-oriented Georgetown Medical School, the NIH, and other universities in the DC area, provide an exceptional environment for learning and scholarship.

The position of Research Assistant (RA) will perform mouse genotyping, surgeries, tissue dissections, make solutions, and perform molecular and cell biology experiments, including PCR, immunostaining, cryosection of tissues independently, and with members of the Huang laboratory in the Department of Biology. The Research Assistant will also manage the financial statements/invoices, perform all ordering of reagents and animals in the lab, and assist in the writing and management of the IACUC animal protocols. Additionally, the Research Assistant will contribute significantly to research projects in the lab, including experiments, data analyses, and manuscript writing.

  • B.A. in Neurobiology or equivalent.
  • Successful applicants will have at least 24 months of experience in laboratory preparation, animal handling/experiments, tissue sectioning/analyses; and,
  • Proficiency in reading scientific literature and scientific writing.

The position of Research Technician is an initial 1-year term position.
