Leveraging Stanford's combined strengths in fundamental discovery and translational research, the Stanford Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) is enhancing and strengthening Stanford's clinical and translational research enterprise with the goal of improving human health locally and globally. Through funding from the National Institutes of Health CTSA Program, Stanford is actively engaged in a network of more than 50 medical research institutions (CTSA Program hubs) across the nation working together to improve the translational research landscape.

The Stanford School of Medicine Research Office is seeking a KL2 Program Manager to oversee and administer CTSA's KL2 Mentored Career Development Program. The KL2 Program Manager will work under the general direction of School of Medicine faculty and the Workforce Development Manager to implement and administer the vision, strategy and goals of the KL2 Mentored Career Development Program.

Excellent writing and analytical skills are required for this position, and a cover letter is required to be considered for the position.

Duties include:
  • Managing pre-award and post-award administrative activities for an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts within the Senior Associate Dean - Research Office (SAD-R) using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills.
  • Contributing information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross functional team.
  • Ensuring applications meet agency and university guidelines and published timetables and deadlines, including management of the Just-In-Time process (i.e., NCATS human subjects' prior approval). Assists the PI with budget justification including proofing the budget for inconsistencies and ensuring accuracy. Advises the PI on administrative requirements in preparing proposal submissions and on budget adjustments and revisions necessary to meet the sponsor requirements.
  • Coordinating and reviewing proposal elements (biosketches, facilities & resources). Review proposals for consistency with sponsor formatting guidelines excluding narrative content (obtain and review sponsor guidelines). Monitor and facilitate the proposal process in compliance with University procedures and institutional guidelines.
  • Ensuring KL2 compliance with NIH - ORCID requirements, compliance with the NIH public access policy, and other reporting requirements.
  • Working closely with Stanford CTSA leadership in program evaluation and identification of trends, and responding nimbly to changes from NCATS.
  • Coordinating with the KL2 Program Coordinator on the administration of the KL2 Mentored Career Development Program.
  • Supervising relevant portions of the job that may include overseeing administrative staff responsible for data entry into various NIH portals.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:




    Prefer five or more years of experience in managing/co-managing the implementation of specific aims.

    Experience managing NIH training grants.






    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

    Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.



    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.

  • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.

  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.

  • Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.



    CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:



  • For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.

  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.

  • Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

  • Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.

  • On-campus mobility.
