Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and established po licies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North CarolinaBo ard of Nursing.
Plan, provide, supervi se and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the pl an of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and respon se to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the deli very of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group o f patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and materi al resources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the dev elopment of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identifica tion of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and in performance improvement activities.Perform other related duties inci dental to the work described herein.

Level Ch aracteristics
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of NorthCarolina. BLS required.
