Job Description:

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Cairo invites applications for adjunct professor positions in graphic design in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Experienced candidates are being sought to teach undergraduate courses in graphic design and interactive web design. Candidates must utilize current industry standard print and web design applications in a classroom setting. Highly qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.


Minimum academic achievement of MA in said or related discipline; Minimum 10 years work experience in said or related field; Teaching experience preferred in said or related discipline; English proficiency is a must.

Candidates will teach but not be restricted to:
JRMC 3305 Introduction to Visual Communication
Introductory laboratory in basics of typography, desktop publishing, digital design of publications and advertising. Taught by lecture with practical application.

JRMC 3301 Journalism Editing and Design
Principles of, and laboratory practice in, copyediting and proofreading; headline writing; scaling and cropping photographs; and layout and design.
