Description:

The Post-Doctoral fellow will independently conduct experiments to understand the changes in the integrity of brain blood vessels and their hemodynamic response associated with neuronal activity after recurrent episodes of induced hypoglycemia.  The research will focus on the effects of recurring hypoglycemia on neurovascular coupling and brain blood vessels integrity using in vivo imaging techniques.

The Post-Doctoral fellow will use two-photon excitation imaging in awake mice together with behavioral tasks to assess compliance of brain blood vessels and cognitive deficits associated with hypoglycemia-induced blood vessel dysfunction.


Qualifications:

PhD., MD. or equivalent degree with a strong background in cardiovascular biology.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY: 

  1. Applicants must have a strong background in brain vascular biology and stroke, as well as prior experience in in vivo two-photon imaging and in surgery technique for in vivo imaging and stroke studies.
  2. Solid analytical skills and attention to detail;
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  4. Proficiency with common laboratory equipment and techniques required
  5. Knowledge of various software programs
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills;
  7. Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments;
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
