The Candidate must be disciplined, proficient and able to independently perform experiments involving molecular biology, biochemistry, and bacteriology procedures.
The Candidate must be able to modify and adapt standard molecular biology and bacteriology procedures to meet the needs of the project which is focused on Clostridium difficile and Escherichia coli virulence; analyze data; Participates in preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and results for various purposes including, but not limited to, grants and manuscripts. The Candidate will be required to work with potentially hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals and disease-causing organisms.
This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory procedures, tests and analyses in studying the pathogenesis of Clostridium difficile-and pathogenic E. coli-containing specimens
  • Analyze data and write research progress reports including summarizing test results.
  • Participate in preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and test results for various purposes including, but not limited to, grants and manuscripts.
  • Perform administrative functions such as assisting in projecting budgets and procuring laboratory space, supplies and equipment.
  • Create and manage databases for studies which includes setting up database and associated data entry programs and retrieving data from database for purposes of analyses or data review.
  • Perform necropsies and procedures on research animals.
  • Candidate must possess skills in analyzing and evaluating data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to work with and manipulate bacteria. Biosafety Level 2 experience (such as handling materials/disposables/labware etc) as the candidate will perform scientific data collection and experiments, compile data, write project summaries, and participate in inventory and supply requisition efforts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience may be required.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor of Science in microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry or related fields.
Candidate must possess skills in analyzing and evaluating data.
