The expertise of the current faculty members encompasses a spectrum of molecular, neurobiological, cardiovascular,and neuropharmacological techniques allowing for vibrant collaborative efforts designed to address the question of the underlying causes and treatment of chronic pain.

Two Postdoctoral Research Associate I positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Rajesh Khanna, to study cell biology/biochemistry of sodium channel NaV1.7regulation by novel proteins. Our work focuses on targeting regulators of voltagegated calcium and sodium channels as a potential strategy for relief of chronic pain.The lab has a strong record of high impact papers with multiple recent publications in Nature Medicine, Pain, and PNAS. Major techniques include immunohistochemistry,protein-protein interactions and protein biochemistry are employed to support findings from our behavioral and electrophysiological experiment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform experiments to further existing research programs and grants, concentrating on identifying new signaling regulators of channels and their mechanisms, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for research technical staff including graduate and undergraduate students.
  • If required, present talks, posters and research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Attend regular group meetings; manage, maintain, and order laboratory equipment and supplies; and respond to administrative request and procedures.
  • Generate new ideas and projects for development.
  • Assist with preparation of grants and manuscripts.
  • Supervising and training junior students, may be required.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • M.D. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with electrophysiological characterization.
