The successful candidate will display excellent technical skills along with a passion for finding computational solutions to important biological questions. Duties & Responsibilities

The main responsibility of this position is to design and implement bioinformatics analysis strategies for cancer researchers, with a focus on, but not limited to, extracting insights from multi-‘omics and next-generation sequencing data. Additionally, the successful candidate will help drive innovation in cancer computational biology by organizing workshops between biomedical researchers at the UACC and computer scientists at the University of Arizona.

  • Meet with researchers and clinicians to provide bioinformatics consultation in the analysis of experimental and publicly available datasets.
  • Communicate with researchers and clinicians to understand and obtain data analysis specifications.
  • Design data analysis project plans and estimate time to completion.
  • Work independently and as a team member to analyze data, developing software tools and analytical pipelines where necessary.
  • Provide publication quality documentation at the end of each data analysis project.
  • Evaluation, development, and support of new bioinformatics methods.
  • Lead bioinformatics workshops and help create interactive web applications for visualizing and understanding high-throughput cancer data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is typically required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required. Master's Degree required.
