The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) will partner with the UA Office of Digital Learning (ODL) in seeking one or more Course Support Specialists to assist in the assessment, maintenance and redesign of courses within several fully-online CALS degree programs for Arizona Online and UA Global. This position will report to a Sr. Instructional Designer in the Office of Digital Learning as well as to the Associate Dean for Career and Academic Services in CALS. The ideal candidate will provide instructional design and technological support to faculty, assisting with the revision and development of online course design elements within the university’s learning management system. This position will also be responsible for supporting faculty with the development and enhancement of lecture (video) content and interactive learning objects. Experience collaborating closely with diverse groups of stakeholders, to include faculty, instructional designers and technologists, and university partners, is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assessmentand Evaluation

  •  Ensure that course content, tools in the Learning Management System, and other technologies are working properly through compatibility testing of multiple operating systems, web browsers, and multimedia plugins
  • Assess the effectiveness of learning environments to ensure that they promote interaction, social presence, and community among students, and between students and faculty
  • Evaluate courses forUniversal Design for Learning and effectiveness of learning content reaching diversepopulations of learners
CourseDevelopment

  • Work with faculty and subject matter experts to maintain, revise and design (as needed) fully online courses
  • Assist faculty with the incorporation of Web 2.0 tools for instruction, communication and collaborative student engagement
  • Support the modification and development of interactive learning objects, editing video and lecture content, and assisting in media production
  • Collaborate with faculty onthe redesign of learning activities and authentic assessments that encouragecritical thinking skills and student-centered online learning

Communicationand Collaboration

  • Maintain detailed course records related to instructional design processes
  • Ensure comprehensive support to ODL team members and partners, to include timely communication over email, in project management software and in person
  • Provide support to various stakeholders in the instructional design process (including, but not limited to, graduate students, student workers, faculty and staff) as they create and maintain online course materials
  • Collaborate closely with the instructional design team at The Office of Digital Learning to maintain the consistent quality of courses across the Arizona Online and UA Global platforms

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in instructional design, educational technology or related academic discipline
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with college faculty in the development of online courses Training in instructional design, educational technology or related field
  • Expertise and knowledge of best design practices for the development of online learning environments
  • Experience taking a fully-online course
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, video editing or graphic design
  • Experience with the Desire2Learn (D2L) LMS
  • Familiar with ADA compliance, accessibility issues and universal design principles
  • Experience using software and tools such as VoiceThread, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate, etc. to support development and delivery of multimedia learning objects, graphics, presentations, and deliverables
  • Knowledge of technical writing, content authoring, content organization, and content mapping

Our Main and Health Sciences campuses are located near downtown Tucson.
