EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt                                             

          

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Under general supervision, applies paints, solvents, sealants, and caulk to wood, plater, sheet rock, concrete, and synthetic interior and external finishes.   

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, sheetrock, concrete, and wood.
  • Operates equipment such as airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts,
  • Performs surface preparation, including application of putty, wood filler, spackling, and caulks,
  • Prepares surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and pressure washing.
  • May apply exterior caulking to building joints and seams under direct supervision.
  • Performs flat glass repairs.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    At least 6 months of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.   

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:    

  • Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products.
  • Skill in wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques.
  • Knowledge of glass repair techniques, tools and materials.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. 
  •  

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of climbing and working from ladders up to 36 feet.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
