Duke Primary Care - Respiratory Care CenterClinical NurseI IOcc Summary

Independently plan and providep rofessional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and established policies andprocedures.Provide nursing services to pati ents and families inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined bythe North CarolinaBoard of Nursing.


Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizingthe n ursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders andestabl ished policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment toindivi dualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline ne eds and response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursingpersonne l in the delivery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor andinitiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare includingequipment and material resources.Participatein own professional development by m aintaining requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and supp ort the development of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opport unities and in performance improvement activities.Perform other related dutiesincidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.


Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
