The Senior Financial Analyst will prepare monthly expenditure reports for Law Faculty and Units and oversee financial transactions. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for the financial and administrative management of federal and private contracts and grants as well as other extramural and state funds that support various research and instructional programs within the School of Law. As part of the School's Finance Team, the Senior Financial Analyst has independent decision making authority, policy analysis and interpretation and independent problem solving responsibilities that requires on-going interaction with all levels of the University as well as School of Law faculty and staff. Independently provides high-level analytical and financial management services to develop budgets, prepare reports, perform trend analysis and projections, forecast expenses, review financial transactions, resolve time-sensitive issues and train staff.Compensation Range:$59,623 min - $65,342 maxDepartment Website: http://law.uci.eduRequired:Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, and administration of research budgets. This includes audit planning and preparation, rate analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and research program fund administration. Ability to work independently in financial analysis and problem resolution and in following through on assignments with minimal direction. Must be very detail oriented with strong organization skills and ability to prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload and competing deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle stressful situations. Working knowledge of UCI administrative and financial on-line systems (i.e. Kuali, Kuali Coeus, Cognos, PPS, UCPath etc), procedures and fiscal activities. Strong ability to independently compile and analyze data, conduct trend analysis, forecast revenue and expenditures, and produce comprehensive reports. Ability to develop and present recommendations for improvement. Superior problem solving skills. Commitment to organizational efficiency, process streamlining, and continuous improvement. Demonstrated analytical skills to research business and financial problems, collect relevant information, analyze data, define problems and objectives, identify relevant factors, concerns or patterns, recognize alternatives and implications, make timely recommendations, problem solve, formulate objectives and conclusions, and follow through and convey findings with minimal directions while adhering to campus and School policy and procedures. Demonstrated skill in maintaining detailed records of revenue and expenditures, and in processing a large number of accounting transactions accurately. Advanced knowledge of University accounting and purchasing policies and procedures. Working knowledge of University accounting systems necessary to complete accounting and business transactions. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others, showing initiative in providing information, and suggesting and implementing changes. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software with skill to analyze and organize complex information in order to provide clear, comprehensive and compete financial reports and correspondence from the analysis. Strong organizational abilities in order to set priorities and meet deadlines when there are competing demands and distractions. Skill to use sensitivity and confidentiality in internal and external relations. Proven ability with annual fiscal closing process.Final candidate subject to background check.
