With the guidance of one or more staff or faculty members, perform a mixture of services in support of communication, technology, business operations or student affairs activities as more than 50% of their service.
The Staff Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and tuition waiver subject to federal tax.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In consultation with one or more staff or faculty members, assist in the support of the affairs of a program, department, office and/or curriculum.
Other departmental related duties as required.
Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 for 50%) is required.
GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Admission and enrollment in a graduate program is required.
Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.
Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.
One main focus of this position would be to support college student success on the Michigan Test for Teaching Certification (MTTC) through teaching and coaching test taking skills and identifying content needs. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience (K-12 preferred) and tutoring experience.
For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.
For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.
