Job Details
NOVA Workforce Division is seeking a full-time Primary Nurse Aide Online Instructor to deliver remote instruction. Instructor will use the State of Virginia Board of Nursing curriculum to prepare nurse aide students to successfully complete the nurse aide certification exam. Travel to campus for onsite inspection with the VBON once a year and occasional onsite staff meetings required.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include but are not limited to:
• Provide multiple course offerings including via remote instruction in Virginia
Nurse Aide (NA) several times a semester to include day, evening and weekend
offerings
• Hire, supervise and train secondary NA instructors for skills lab and clinical
rotations
• Complete oversite of the NA curriculum
• Required to be onsite for inspections and occasional required meetings
• Create instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, student handouts,
hands-on lab exercises and training aids)
• Evaluate the progress and performance of students
• Responsible for class scheduling and program management
• Responsible for clinical coordination and placement for students to include
securing new clinical affiliations in the Northern Virginia region
• Develop and deliver online student orientations remotely for all allied health
programs, not limited to NA
• Assist the Associate Director in creating new NA programs as needed in
accordance with VBON guidelines
• Be a faculty leader in classes
• Be available for filling in when necessary for other allied healthcare programs,
including CCMA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Hold an unrestricted Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN) with multi-state license privilege
• Significant experience as a Primary Nurse Aide Instructor
• Significant experience in curriculum design and development
• Must have proven experience using and working with instructional technologies, including Canvas and Zoom.
• Experience working with adult learners.
• Experience with remote instructional delivery.
• Significant experience in grant projects
• Some experience with Nurse Aide Train the Trainer
• Significant years with the VCCS system
• Must have extensive experience with providing NA Train the Trainer when
onboarding new instructors
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate workload
• Ability to work in a team or individually on projects
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
