The Literature and Creative Writing department of Hamilton College invites applications to fill a tenure track position in 18th- and early-19th-century literature and culture, with a comparative emphasis, to begin July 1, 2021.
We seek an innovative and dedicated teacher/scholar who can teach one or more of the following: the origins, legacies, and contradictions of “the Enlightenment” as a global phenomenon; literary and material culture (e.g. print culture, maps, diagrams, etc.); the development of the novel; comparative genre studies (novel, essay, autobiography). We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations. The position requires institutional service, including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year.
Candidates with ABD will be considered, although candidates must have completed the Ph.D. by the time the position begins. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses per year thereafter. By November 1, 2020, please send a vita, letter of application, and a writing sample (at least 10 pages) as pdf files at http://apply.interfolio.com/78351 via Interfolio. Questions regarding the search may be directed to Professor Onno Oerlemans, Chair of the Search Committee, at [email protected].
