The Organizational Development Specialist and Trainer, BU Diversity & Inclusion in the Office of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Community and Inclusion will join a relatively new unit within Boston University focused on aligning the University's stated values regarding community, diversity, equity, and inclusion to its policies, practices, structures, climate, and culture. Working in collaboration with the D&I team, the Organizational Development Specialist and Trainer will serve as an internal expert on organizational change processes that support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at Boston University. The OD Specialist and Trainer will assist in the design and delivery of curricula, webinars, workshops, presentations, trainings and other learning and practice-based strategies for DEI.

Reporting to the Director of Learning and Training, the OD Specialist and Trainers responsibilities that will include assessing learning needs, helping to develop university-wide curricula, conducting trainings and other learning sessions, evaluating outcomes, utilizing data to inform program development, working with departments on their DEI action plans, and providing assistance to DEI professionals and teams across the University when necessary. The OD Specialist and Trainer will support the development of trainings on topics such as structural inequity and systems of oppression, implicit and explicit bias in higher education, and equity-based theory and practice.

Further, the OD Specialist and Trainer will assist in the overall development of learning-based strategies for diversity, equity and inclusion. As this is an entirely new position, the inaugural OD Specialist and Trainer must thrive in maker space. They must also be familiar with and adept in the principles and practices of equitable and inclusive community engagement, have a firm understanding of organizational development strategies such as research, evaluation, quality improvement and performance management systems, and will have extensive knowledge and experience facilitating diversity, equity and inclusion learning and change processes that bring about system-wide organizational transformation.

Qualifications will include strong project management, exemplary writing and communication skills; exceptional training and facilitation skills; strong coaching skills; high levels of emotional intelligence and management and demonstrated experience in the field. Candidates with a great deal of higher education experience will be preferred.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years organizational development and
  • Extensive DEI experience; knowledge of frameworks, best practices, etc.
  • 5-10 years minimum um training and education experience
  • College degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative assessment tools and strategies
  • Some coaching experience
