Position Summary:

Incumbent serves as a resource to staff in handling and troubleshooting difficult accounts, monitoring workflow, monitoring productivity and identifying underlying issues. Makes recommendations for resolving issues of registration and scheduling for Patient Access staff. Serves as a UC Irvine system-wide training resource. Required to have successfully completed the EPIC Certification Training program. Develops and implements training programs for all staff performing registration and scheduling based on UC Irvine Health's needs and usage. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic software programs, such as Excel, Word and Access

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Proficient in Commercial, Medicare and Medi-Cal billing and claims processing with sound knowledge of respective rules, regulations and compliance guidelines

3 years’ experience in an acute hospital based billing and collections department

Ability and experience with database development, spreadsheets, to implement effective and efficient internal programs and processes.

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding, authorization requirements and related documentation

Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years’ experience as a lead and/or project management

Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
