Job Purpose: To perform essential library functions in technical services areas of the library.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Receiving and logging in new library materials; preparing library materials for circulation and reserves; providing cataloging assistance under the supervision of a librarian; conducting sample searches to identify any operational issues in related online systems, and referring those items to a librarian for resolution; serving as a back-up for the circulation and reserve areas; performing additional services and projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications: Ability to work independently on an assignment or project after initial training and direction; Reliability and timeliness; Accuracy and attention to detail; Prior library experience preferred, or experience with similar operations in other settings; Ability to lift weights of up to 40 pounds, to push heavily-loaded book trucks, to use stepladders for access to upper shelves in library stacks.
