Trio-SSS is federal grant funding focused on providing additional services to students from underrepresented populations such as: low income, first-generation college student, academically underprepared, disabled and other qualifications that directly impact the successful completion of higher education at significant rates within these special populations.
The Student Engagement Specialist will be responsible for working closely with the student success coach and project director in carrying out the activities of the program and facilitating the success of program participants.
The Ideal Candidate's Experience Includes:
Serve as liaison between students, program staff and the college experience regarding educational programs, services and various student issues.
Provide outreach and guidance to assist in resolving student concerns and promoting student success
Serve as an informational resource to students and staff as it relates to student performance, activities, college policies, program practices and processes.
Provide tutoring and academic assistance to students by way of referral to program tutors, coaches and college resources,
Compose, distribute and respond to correspondence related to student support. Assist with scheduling tutoring, coaching & workshops.
Assist with the student intake/onboarding experience
Conduct workshops and presentations for student participants.
Participate in all program and college related activities as requested by program director.
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) from an accredited college or university.
Formal training and/or work experience in promoting persistence and graduation rates of at-risk college students
Minimum of one year of experience in college counseling or working with college students in similar projects.
